Starting today, Idahoans can donate to more than 650 charities and nonprofits throughout the state through Idaho Gives, the Gem State’s largest online fundraising event each year.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and an increased need for nonprofits statewide, the donation window will remain open for a week from April 29 through May 6.
Donors can sign on to IdahoGives.org and select nonprofits by searching for a specific entity, searching geographically or searching by type of cause. Nonprofits include anything from the Idaho Humane Society to the Idaho chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers to the Elmore County Domestic Violence Council and nearly everything in between.
Eligible organizations are 501(c)(3) nonprofits headquartered or providing services in Idaho and are registered with the Idaho Secretary of State’s Office, according to the Idaho Gives website.
Monetary prizes will also provide an extra boost in funding for nonprofits based on size of the organization, timing of donations throughout the week, the geographic location of donors and other factors.
The event, which began in 2013, raised a record-setting $3.9 million last year from more than 18,000 donors.
